New PC

I flipped the switch on my new PC this morning after a smooth build last night.  Here's the specs:

  • Intel Core i7-950 3.06 GHz (stock) Quad Core CPU
  • Asus P6TD Deluxe Motherboard with Intel X58 Chipset
  • 6 GB (3 x 2GB) OCZ Platinum DDR3 2000 RAM
  • Two Seagate 1 TB 7200RPM SATA 3.0 Hard Drives (RAID 0)
  • LG 10X Blu-Ray writer with LightScribe
  • AMD Radeon HD 6850 GPU (775 MHz, 1GB GDDR5, DirectX 11)
  • Noctua NH-D14 Heatsink/Fan
  • Corsair 750W power supply
  • Corsair 600T ATX Mid-Tower Case
  • Asus 21.5" 1920x1080 LED Monitor
  • Windows 7 Ultimate
I haven't had too much time to play around with it, but it seems very fast and responsive. I did get to run Cinebench 9.5 on it.  Ya, I know, Cinebench 9.5 is ancient, but I've run it on all of my computers dating back to 2006 and it's really the only tool I have to compare them.  I'll be posting the graph soon, but at stock speed the new system scored a 2240 in the multi-CPU render test, compared to my previous best of 1775 on a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 overclocked to 3.3 GHz and 957 on my current MacBook Pro with a 2.8 GHz Core 2.  I'm excited to get Premier installed on it and do some HD encoding!  I'm also looking forward to my attempt to push it to 4 GHz (and beyond?).
